Operations System Specialist

The position

As a System specialist, you will be a part of a group containing of five persons working with the Qbrick system operations. We have data centers spread across Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. In the role, you will work with operations, management and in different projects regarding development of our systems and services. As part of the daily operations you will work with monitoring, load balancing, redundancy, scalability, backup and storage. You will also work with deploying new code to our stage and production environments both for new features and for bug fixes.

In time, you will get your own focus areas, which you will be responsible for when it comes to development and maintenance. You will work close to developers as well as the department for delivery & support. We work with a system for case handling and we use a Wiki-solution for the documentation. The role includes “on call” duty every 4-6 week.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position we think that you have a relevant education or equal experience and at least 2 years of documented work experience of Linux (Red Hat, CentOS) operations. You have a good general understanding of networks and used to work with critical 24/7 systems. You have an enterprise way of thinking in everything you do and you see documenting as a greater good. Furthermore, you have experience of working with automation and deployment tools like Ansible and Octopus or similar. We think you see the benefits of creating scripts to make your tasks more efficient. Other areas we see you have knowledge in are load balancing, monitoring, storage, redundancy and scalability. If you are interested in streaming it´s a bonus.

Your personality

You are a team player who are structured and self-going. It´s important that you have the ability to handle multiple ongoing tasks and you have a pedagogic way of being. You want to develop yourself and learn new things.

About the role!

As a developer in the CDN & Origin team you will work with the design and implementation of services to meet customers’ needs for transformation and distribution of video at scale, to viewers on pretty much any platform you can think of.

You will work in an agile environment closely collaborating with backlog stakeholders, other development teams, operations and customer support. Services are composed using a careful mix of in-house and 3rd party components while meeting requirements of high availability, scalability and efficiency. An aptitude for learning and sharing is a must as we together tackle a broad problem domain with a diverse set of tools.

Who are you?

We think you have a post-secondary education in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or equivalent and a few years of work experience as a software developer. You thrive in an agile environment where you are involved and solve technical challenges and are also able to influence the development of new products. As a person you have passion for what you do. You are knowledgeable in your field and like to find innovative solutions. You thrive in a role where you will be able to grow and develop and you appreciate having a team to brainstorm ideas with.

  • A minimum of 3 year's professional experience with Java SE
  • Experience designing distributed systems
  • Experience with native development in C or C++
  • Experience with an interpreted scripting language such as Python or shell script
  • Experience configuring and operating GNU/Linux systems
  • Good knowledge about TCP/IP and common application protocols, HTTP in particular
  • The ability to reason about modern software design principles

Fluency in English is necessary, good understanding of Swedish beneficial but not a pre-requisite.

As a Client Developer, you will work with the design and implementation of applications for the control of products for professional use. You will contribute to the definition of development strategies and to influence the software architecture with much focus on the user experience (UX).

You´ll be involved in the first phase of the project and conduct development of jointly established specifications to the finished product. You´ll get a real opportunity to work with various technology since the team includes a mix of different skills.

You will be an important member of the Solutions team that is responsible for developing our Video Platform. We work in an agile environment using Scrum in close cooperation with our Product Owner.

Who are you?
